Family Reunion & Cousins Camp
Where do we even begin? We had a fun and family-filled week in Atlanta this summer for a Jewkes Family Reunion followed by the First Annual Jewkes Cousins Camp at Grandma Becky and Poppy's house. We started the week at Banning Mills Resort, where we hiked, zip-lined, went swimming, had a talent show, did Zumba courtesy of Claire, played games, and ate.Cousins Camp followed that. Every minute of the next three days was meticulously planned and coordinated by Dave and Jessica- what a huge job for all 16 grandkids! But, the kids had so much fun...they learned so many important lessons and family stories, did fun crafts, made ice cream in a bag, decorated camp t-shirts, played soccer, jumped on the tramp, went swimming, launched rockets, sang camp songs, roasted s'mores, cousins sleep-over, lit sparklers, ate great food, blasted through obstacle courses and canoe and motorcycle rides...I'm sure I'm missing something. In case I am, you can see the Sedgwick's blog for a cool video of camp. But, you get the picture: Non-stop fun. Here's a glimpse...
NOTE FROM BRIAN ON DOWNLOADING A BUNCH OF PICTURES FROM JEWKES FAMILY REUNION/COUSINS CAMP:
Hi all ... many of wanted these pictures for you blogs, etc. Because there are over 300 pictures, I had to separate into 5 downloads. You'll find there are a bunch more from the cousins camp, not just swimming. Click on each link, one at a time to download the image files. Leave a question in the comments if you are having difficulty opening (someone may have the same question/concern).

Best BBQ Ever!
On our drive to Atlanta for the family reunion, we made stops and spent the night in two cities- Nashville and Chattanooga, TN. Nashville was a fun town...lots of history and music, obviously. The next day/night was spent in Chattanooga. This is a beautiful city, with a lot to do. We rode the Incline Railway to the top of Lookout Mountain, where you can see 7 states. Then, we walked around Rock City- which was beautiful. The next morning, we went to church in downtown Chattanooga and then ate lunch at the best BBQ restaurant ever (for a yummy banana pudding recipe like one we had there, go to our cooking blog). A fun detour on our long drive.

TRIP TO UTAH
A Quick Trip to Houston
We visited our good friends, the Robinsons, this past weekend in their new home near Houston, TX. We had a great time- we both have girls about the same age so they have a blast playing with one another. Brian's birthday was on Sunday so we celebrated a little bit then, but on Friday night, I took him on a date (planned by me) and gave him a Nintendo Wii- I think he was a bit shocked- I don't know if it was because I got it for him or if it was that I was actually able to find one. Either way- its been fun. This first picture is of Taylor at a playground by the Robinsons and the next is of their daugther, Chayse, chilling at a tea party.
Thanksgiving in Atlanta
We drove the entire 12 hours (each way) to Atlanta to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. I have two sisters and two brothers who also live in the area, so it ended up being quite a crowd. We had a great time there enjoying my parent's property. Brian took the girls on several canoe rides in my parents' ponds and spent alot of time pushing them on the tire swing. Since my parents live in the country- in the truest sense of the word- there are farms almost completely surrounding them, so we took the girls to check out all of the local "wildlife". They especially loved the horses. Its always fun to spend time with my family- and I just don't get to do it often enough. Brian and I also ran our first race together, the Atlanta Half Marathon. I'll post some pics of that later. Here are some pictures of our little vacation.
